Three Style Essences
Last week was a whirlwind of throwing together outfits, doing my makeup in the car, and barely having time to brush my hair. Sounds about 'fashion.'
My exploration of New York Fashion Week was illuminating and not just by the flashing camera lights. Mentally, I was trying to imagine ways to subtly insert the framework of circular economics that powers my clothing distribution efforts. (I'm proud to have coordinated 300,000+ pounds of free clothes distributed in the past 5 years.) My goal was simple: to expand our capacity to consider clothing as a universal human right.
Fashion Week is like speed dating for style enthusiasts looking to network across creative disciplines. I found success in introducing myself as a social impact strategist when asked if I'm a model or designer. (Flattering, but my explorations are purely amateur!)
This season was a practice round in perfecting my pitch, and resulted in connecting with other likeminded sustainability and immigrant justice advocates dispersed within the multitude of glitzy event guests.
Heating up a Digital World
Spicy Wellness is a new blog-newsletter hybrid that collages together my personal style, inner confidence, sensuality and voice. I aim to expand the definition of spice in a culture that often assumes this genre of content making is one-dimensional. To me, spicy *of course* includes a perfectly posed 'thirst trap', but I'm also challenging myself to turn up the heat by sharing my personal hot takes and creative productions that embody the fire heart emoji (❤️‍🔥).
Your support means the world to me, and fuels my determination to put myself out into the world completely unfiltered. My commitment to you is to share real, raw intimate details of my life with the hope that something here inspires you. Every word is written by me, without Ai. My photos are never distorted to cover my flaws or insecurities. In an age of mass media manipulation, presenting myself with total sincerity feels vulnerable.
What Style Suits me Best?
If you're here with me, let me know by leaving a comment so I'm not writing into the void. I'm curious to know what your opinion is. To be fair, some of my explorations are going to be bubblegum girly-coded, but to the subscribers who support my adventures please always feel encouraged to chime in. I'm interested in your reflections on femininity, beyond the assumptions we've been told about the 'male gaze.' I invite anyone who has a curiosity about me to consider a niche perspective I think is fascinating, the 'muse gaze.'
What does a shift from the 'male' to 'muse' gaze mean? This is something I'm building with a written and visual architecture that interprets my life experiences as a woman often exposed to public display. I know what it's like to be seen, in part because of practical mechanics (my height, outspoken opinions, love of colorful clothes and makeup). But the question that remains is how do I see myself?
Essence 1: Fantasy & Folklore

Focus = Color
My entire life has been drenched in the bright colors of Mexico, where most of my family was born. This profound appreciation for vibrant cultural textiles has connected me with artisan weavers all across Latin America. Everytime I incorporate a bright statement piece into my outfit I'm instantly brought back to tradition, spirit, and joy.
Essence 2: Poetic Earth / Ritualwear

Focus = Natural Fibers
This outfit is made entirely out of natural cotton. The top was given to me by one of the most stylish women I've met on the internet, who donated a capsule of iconic shirts and dresses to one of my distribution events last year. The skirt came out of another donation haul in 2024. I put my own unique stamp on this outfit with bleach, which despite being a volatile chemical, in small amounts is a controllable artistic medium. The bleach bath on the skirt, and careful bleach outlining I did on the 'bone structure' of these pieces transformed me into an eye-catching but grounded fashion icon.
Essence 3: Elegant Seduction

Focus = Soft Power
Decadent fur, sleek silhouettes, with an intelligent flare. My most alluring style essence is sharp and aspirational. While I spend most of my time dressed down, on the streets, working in humble conditions because of my passion for distributing resources through collective action, my day-to-night transformation is something I've developed with precision over the years. A paradox exists in wanting to look elegant and enjoying the attention of dressing up, while at the same time holding deep inner values that reject blind consumerism. Making the most out of every opportunity, I've become a collector of sophisticated dresses, sexy boots, and feminine accessories while never overspending on these material objects. The fact I'm able to craft an illusion of splendor further proves that wealth is all about appearances and rarely represents merit or substance. I continue to live a rags-to-riches duality in my day to day life, firm in my resolve that everyone deserves nice things regardless of income or background.
